Basic tool kit? What would you recommend?

Ok so now we have the Kubota, together with a spare tyre and rim.

In each of my vehicles I keep a basic toolkit with the right size and type of tools for that vehicle.

Can anybody suggest a good minimum set of tools for basic tasks like tyre replacement, filter replacements and drive train and suspension adjustments? Anything you might have to do on the trail side.

I already have a first aid kit and will add a fire extinguisher.

Or should I just stop being lazy and read the owners manual for this information?

Cheers

I have found small tool kits with basic sockets, screw drivers and pliers at harbor freight for 29 bucks. This and a small air compressor would about do it I'd think. Then you can blow up a flat tire and take it home to change it. Most of us do not carry a spare.

Hey Doc.

I prefer to carry a spare for two reasons. I could be operating in our district a long way from our homestead and our homestead is a long way from anywhere we can get a replacement tyre if it’s damaged beyond repair.

One of the main purposes our unit will be put to is fire fighting. Changing a wheel in front of an advancing fire is no fun but I’ve done it several times with the Kubotas predecessor…

That's something I need to do. I still have to get a spare rim and tire. I never carry spares on my RTV or ATV's and I go on long trail rides. Some day that is going to bite me in the behind, LOL

Yep, it’s when you first get your machine you have the energy and enthusiasm to get set up properly… So trying to sort it out now. I carry rudimentary tool kits in all our vehicles for simple trail side repairs, and need to do the same with the RTVX.

Incidentally I am adding two principle accessories to my RTVX. First a fold down winshield and second a hood rack/basket. I think the two are compatible.

Anybody have any comments or advice on these accessories?

Cheers

I added a front rack made by Great Day. It's expensive for a rack, but compared to the RTV price.....

I do not have a photo and the unit is currently 400 miles away. I'll try to remember to get a photo next time I am there.

It's a universal fit, but I did some customization to get it to fit the way I wanted. It makes it inconvenient to access under the hood. It does restrict the forward view some, more so when something is in it.

For me, it's as handy as a pocket on a shirt and I would do it again.

Oh, I have a 2014 RTVX-900.
