I Bought an Old Rusty Piece of Junk Yesterday

Just to update this, the old baler worked well today. I've got a small side field that I've been mowing around some trees for awhile. This spring I started cutting them down to access the grass. I've just got a small area done but, I cut late Thursday and today I got 42 bales out of it. It made...

TYM - Here we go again

Well that stinks :unhappy:! My Mahindra 2810 is a TYM machine, I've got over 900 hours on it. Seems strange about the alternator fixing the dash. My alternator failed at around 500 hours. The tach runs off of it and that's about it. I believe everything else runs off the battery. It must be a...

    TYM Tractors

Check the data plate on the frame. I thought some of that series might have been assembled in China. If so, they still have a good reputation.

    Can a 30hp tractor run a 7ft rototiller?

Seems a little much but, I'd try it. Does it have adjustable skid shoes? If so, initial shallow pass, then increase depth. Good luck.

    Metal Detectors are Valuable

My el-cheapo Harbor Freight metal detector has saved me twice now. Once, by finding a drive bearing and nut for my walk behind snowblower and now, by finding a nut that holds my chain saw bar on. I was just cutting along when the chain came off. I looked and the remaining nut was real loose and...

I Bought an Old Rusty Piece of Junk Yesterday

I got around to working on it today. I repaired the pto shaft and threw some hay through it. It knots well but, the bales are not square. I played with the tension settings and it got a bit better, then bad weather blew in. In my hurry to get it under cover, I dented my newly repaired pto...

I Bought an Old Rusty Piece of Junk Yesterday

I haven't taken any off yet, though some do need replacing. I'll post when I do. Paint wont get the job done! My trailer was just wide enough. I'm glad I bought a deck-over. I hope to cut mid june.

I Bought an Old Rusty Piece of Junk Yesterday

I think it's not going to need much to get it making bales. It is rusty, but it seems to work. We turned it through by hand and watched the action. It needs to have the pto shaft fixed, the guy's father bent it, then snapped it in half bending it back. I'm hoping I can find new tube and weld the...

    First mow of the season

You guys are way ahead of us. The ground is extremely wet here:umbrella:, still a little snow at the edge of the field. I wanted to go out to the shed at the far end of the field to get the chipper but, way too wet, leaving deep tracks. Gotta wait a few more weeks. I have to start working on the...

    Chain Question

Interesting you mention that. I had purchased Harbor Freight 5/16" x 20' grade 70 chains for $30/ea. I noticed Home Depot and TSC both had Chinese chains, so I figured, why not? I then saw Lowes had US made chains for $35. I returned the HF ones and bought the Lowes ones.

    How to install a Toothbar

I bought this cheap set at HF:http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=527 and had very good luck drilling into 3/4" steel plate. I used smaller bits to step up the holes before drilling with the 1" bit.

    Cordwood Saw

Nice looking saw. Seems to have more to it (guards, etc...) than I remember. Some of the ones I've seen appear that they will reach out and do harm. Of course I also seem to remember the ones I saw were belt drive, from a different era.

I finally stopped lurking and joined.

I remember. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Why would they ban people without any logical reason, thus creating other outlets that compete for the advertising dollars? :pat: I'll have to get the spouse to take a picture of our little tractor running the baler. Some say it can't do it. The second...

Harbor Freight: Coupons, and recommended tools

The tubing roller :http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=99736 , works real well. I bought it to replace the conduit hoops in my hoop house after a heavy snow collapsed the originals.

Thanks guys! Getting banned was due to the clicking the icon to report a spam post, for viagra, next thing I know, RobS banned me for spam. The funny thing is, after 5 years, NOW I'm going to start posting spam?! Gimme a break! Somebody screwed up, but after two messages to the admin and no...
