    Crap Sums it Up

UPDATE...been distracted with other things the past two weeks. After thoroughly cleaning the head I discovered a crack above cylinder 2, between the injector port and valve. Also checked the head with a machinist straight edge and found the head to be warped anyway so its junk for sure...

    Crap Sums it Up

With gasoline engines 2 head gaskets stacked was a common practice to lower the compression but with a diesel I am not so sure. That would be an expensive experiment at $80 a pop.

    Crap Sums it Up

My goal is to return this to its original state...it ran with the temp gauge at 1/3, just not with a load. The plan... Reassemble with a new head gasket. If there are no combustion gases pressurizing the cooling system fill with antifreeze, run without a thermostat and cross my fingers. One...

    Crap Sums it Up

Thanks Unless its been magnafluxed and pressure tested I am reluctant to go this route. Too much time and expense only to discover a problem when its done.

    Crap Sums it Up

This is an excellent idea...thanks! There is a 1105 on ebay now for very reasonable money. Do you know if this is a direct swap to the existing transmission?

    Crap Sums it Up

Yes the crack is just through the water jacket ports. The cylinder bores are perfect, no signs of scoring. It made good power before blowing the head gasket. For about $100 in gaskets and my time I will give it a shot and report back. BTW the engine builder mentioned that 50% of the core...

    Crap Sums it Up

FYI I received a reply from the ebay seller of rebuilt RTV engines. My engine would have no core value and without the core credit the cost would be the same as a new engine with a 2 year warranty.

    Crap Sums it Up

True...I had a V8 block welded buy a machine shop that specialized in this work. It was an involved process that was expensive, but since this was a numbers matching car it was worth the cost. I don't believe this engine warrants that expense. Compared to a V8 this is like a toy motor. Their...

    Crap Sums it Up

This RTV was running OK until it overheated, when stressed by a load. Assuming the block was cracked prior to my purchase, I am thinking of reassembling with a new head gasket and running as is. The head gasket was delaminated. If its able to make short trips around the property without...

    Crap Sums it Up

Thanks guys! Including the purchase price, after installing a re-manufactured engine (with a warranty) my investment would be close to the dealer retail price for a preowned RTV, with about the same hours. At least I would have confidence in the integrity of this RTV. After this experience I...

    Crap Sums it Up

Hello again. Time for guidance from the forum. Purchased my RTV900 from an eBay dealer, with a 100% feedback ranking, however my purchase was not through eBay. I have purchased from this seller previously without any issues. He admitted that he does not normally sell RTVs. He took it in...

Not the RTV but a short mov of ash log skidding with a wanna be. Give it a min. or so to play.

    Pictures Post Them Here!

Same situation here. 2017 a logger removed all the standing ash trees on our 6A lot. At least these still had market value. With the mill credit it cost me $500 for 4 days of logging activity. What remains has no market value, but I cannot give it away for fire wood. When fuel oil was $6/gal...

    4WD chirp

Thanks but no torch here. Waiting to hear from Peanut...will pace the order as a last resort. Surprising that Kubota did not supply the fix at no cost. Guess that would be admitting liability, exposing them to lawsuits. :elephantRear:

Will do. Located the front end diagram online. My rig has the holes in the A arm but no stoppers. Messicks can order for $62 plus shipping.

The members of this forum are awesome! My sn is 52xxx so I will look into this fix.

    4WD chirp

Since 4wd is seldom needed I am inclined to leave as is. If a differential comes my way at the right price I will purchases as a standby unit.

    4WD chirp

Update... Changed the fluid in the front differential and both knuckles to Kubota UDT but there is no change. Sound is definitely coming from the front end. Additional details...its more of a binding sound that can be heard with the engine off, transmission in N, while drifting down a slope...

    4WD chirp

Yes I started in that direction but was sidetracked. After changing the lube in the differential and knuckles I will resume this if the chirp continues.

    4WD chirp

Hi I cannot locate this carrier bearing on the parts diagram. Was this eliminated in later models? Is there a substitute driveshaft that does not require this bearing?
