    4WD chirp

OK it warmed up enough to pull the wheels. Removing the bolts for the knuckle fill holes I could see no oil but when the drain bolt was removed oil drained. So the level was low, but not completely dry? Apparently this is equipped with a limited slip differential. With 4wd engaged, front...

    4WD chirp

Rodger that on the UDT, the differential probably could use a second flushing anyway. Will pull the wheels when it warms up to inspect the steering knuckle fluid. Nothing done there yet, under my care. 4wd works as it should, the few times that it was needed. Just ignore it until it breaks...

    4WD chirp

"check the carrier bearing right below the seat- floor area" This reminds me of the Cardon shaft center bearing used on the Porsche Cayenne. It maximizes ground clearance and the dealers bank account, because it fails about every 60Kmi. While refurbishing this RTV I removed the center floor...

    4WD chirp

Sorry...its a 2006 RTV900 with about 1200hrs. on the clock. Sounds like the front noises should be expected with the age and hours but without the chirp.

    4WD chirp

How do I determine if it has limited slip? Both CV boots are in perfect condition. Spayed the U joints with PB Blaster, not certain yet if that made a difference.

    4WD chirp

Noticed this during the pre purchase inspection, but since the chirp was in 4wd only it was not high on my list of priorities. The chirp is in sync with wheel rotation but is intermittent. Heard a clunk from the right front when pulling away from a stop, a few times. It can be heard when...

After a month of restoration work...

Thanks everyone. Next time out and it is stuck in a gear I will try your suggestions. If all else fails...pull the HST knob on the dash. BTW I received the manual throttle control from Messicks. A project for another time and thread.

After a month of restoration work...

One other thing I noticed. Living on a mountain ridge there are few level areas around here. Changing gears or going into reverse worked best by pulling the HST pressure release knob first. Otherwise it was a struggle to change gears. Does that seem right?

Pedal to the metal during my test drive. Letting up on the throttle to move faster seems counterproductive but I will give that a shot.

After a month of restoration work...

Acquired my neglected RTV900 about a month ago. It was in sorry shape, but I saw the potential and purchased anyway. With the mechanical issues addressed , fresh oil, coolant and reupholstered seat and backrest I was finally rewarded with a test drive on Saturday. I live on a gravel lane...

    Parking Brake P light ?

No power at the switch and that fuse box looks ugly. Looks like a rodent was chewing on the wiring and there is previous splice work there. Maybe start there and trace back to the brake switch and dash?

    Parking Brake P light ?

Guys this is not working in my RTV 900, the bulb is good. From the WS schematic the wire from the hand brake switch goes directly to the indicator on the dash. This wire is open on my rig. Buried in the wiring harness its impossible to follow without cutting it apart. Is there any particular...

    BX2350 reverse jolt

This was a hot topic back when the tractor was new, about 10 years ago. There is a significant jolt to the operator, when letting up on the go pedal in reverse. A local dealer said it was a common problem with that year BX and seemed to think the only solution was trade it. I have been living...

    RTV900 thermostat housing

Oh man sorry to her that. I will be especially careful when going for a test run. I take it the repair worked up until the accident. Again...many thanks for this thread.

    RTV900 thermostat housing

Thanks for this rjglenn! It seems the PO neglected the coolant system, on the new to me RTV. The radiator and overflow tank were full of rust. Instead of trying to work with it I replaced the radiator, tank, hoses and thermostat. Crossed my fingers (hoping that this would be it) during the...

    Battery Tie Down

Duh...I did not realize the canopy has U bolts going through it. This should provide a secure mounting point. I must research this option further.

    Battery Tie Down

Thanks for the LED suggestion. Certain this will be perfect for my use but I am wondering about light bar mounting. I prefer not to drill holes in the canopy, is there an aftermarket clamp that attaches to the RTV roll cage?
