I got a new excavator at work today!! The mine traded the old 330 in for a new one. Is it ever nice to run. Cameras all around it, auto greaser, thumb and have a breaker and a drum mulcher for it.

What about heat, ac and satellite radio and whats a breaker and a drum mulcher? Auto greaser sounds, probably has over dozen zerks. Wonder if a job with that gets boring, sure could use it around my house.....

Has all that Oldpath. Plus I have internet in it and my wheel loader. I'm in it right now waiting for a truck to get back to load.

The breaker is a hydraulic hammer. I'm the surface equipment operator. So one of my jobs is sometimes the underground trucks will haul to surface and it is my job to sort out waste rock and oversize from the ore. Then anything bigger than 18 inch has to be broke up before it gets shipped to mill.

The drum mulcher is.....think of a big flail mower with hammer teeth. It can chew down trees.

I'll try and get pics sometime.

Love this job. I'm the only surface op and have my choice of 950 and 980 loader, D6 dozer, 330 excavator and a KW T880 low bed float truck. Just use what I need for any given job.

Here's the old 330 with the hammer on it.

And this is what our mulcher is, I just couldn't get a pic today because it is sitting at the mill site 15 KM away from where I am in the mine.

So a tree lawn mower and jack hammer, that tree lawn mower could be put to good use around here along the roads, right now the tree branches are getting trimmed by trailer trucks,...

Yep, pretty much what they are Oldpath, LOL I'm still a kid in the sandbox, but my Tonka toys are a bit bigger now. I don't miss owning trucks at all now!!

Hope you mind but I'm envious of your job, always though excavator work would be a interesting career, but to late for me now since I'm pushing 64 hard.
The best job I had was 38 years ago in mechanical wood harvesting, great job very low pay with no benefits, use to drive grapple skidder and run a 1982 Morbark 20" wood chipper just like this one, no AC but did have heat.

For some reason around here wood harvesting has always been a low paying job and now with todays new modern equipment it's probably still the same way. 34 years ago the only thing I knew how to do was wood harvesting and welding, so I went welding making weapons' of mass destruction with lot better pay. But soon learn that in the welding trade one is like crap from the any ape can weld management crowd, it's always faster faster, more more, how much longer, are you done yet and so one is treated like working in a Chinese sweat shop, glad I'm almost done. My advice to anyone young is dont go welding unless one knows how to design and build things that requires hydraulics with electrical wiring.........

I did that too Oldpath. The area I live in was rich in forestry and mills. I hauled logs and possum belly and walking floor trailers hauling bark, chips and hog fuel to the local paper mills. Until it all crashed. Now it's a mining region.

Company I hauled for had a few 800 to 1000 horsepower Morbark and Beast horizontal grinders. I loved working around that stuff.

Here was one of my favorite trucks, a 2000 International 9900i with a C15 Cat and Titan 5 axle walking floor with steer axles.

That sign tells me you was quite a ways north.

My toy box. Then last night my shift foreman took me fishing at one of the lakes here. Tomorrow night is pickerel fish fry at the shop.
