the crank, the mains are in a case which bolts to the bottom of the block.the crank comes out the back of the block, you have to turn it 1 complete revolution to get it out, turning each rod to bottom dead center.the front main is in the block.

this is what stupidity does! found the temp sensor broken off,so the "operator" didnt know he poked a hole in the radiator draining all the coolant out of the radiator and toasted the engine. the head was blued and #2 was cracked from the exhaust valve to the glow plug chamber.#2 had pieces of the piston stuck to it,fortunately for us it honed out nicely.

Had a similar issue, though not as bad as yours. Unit was returned with the wire for the temp. switch hard wired to ground. That was our first clue something was wrong. They hardwired it AFTER it overheated! What can I say "job security".

Oh man ... that's uglier than a nude photo of Roseann Barrf. As they say in the funeral industry: I am sorry for your loss.

My issue: I haven't "felt right" about my 2008 RTV900's temp gauge from the day I bought it, four years ago. Within just a few minutes of starting the engine, the temp needle falls nearly over into the red zone ... not quite in the zone, but within maybe ⅛ in. of the leading edge of the red. As I drive around, the needle cools off a bit, but then eases back toward the red zone and occasionally hits the red but falls back immediately.

I took it back to the dealer twice right after I bought the machine. Dealer replaced the temp gauge ... no change in heat indications. Replaced thermostat ... no change, etc. Replaced sending unit and temp gauge ... no change, etc.

I sent a letter to Kubota HQ in California. I got a pithy little response stating that the thermostat "starts to open at 176° to 182° and is fully open at 203°... Take it to your dealer for a complete examination."

By comparison, my 2002 Kubota ZD21 diesel mower, which has the same engine as my RTV900, never moves the temp needle beyond the half-way mark between dead cold and the red zone. If the mower temp ever edges beyond the half-way mark, it's a sure sign that grass debris has coated the screen in front of the radiator ... a quick wipe of the screen and the needle falls back to its normal operating zone.

I don't feel comfortable with the temp gauge operating as it does. As an old, worn out aviator, I know to "trust your instruments," but I don't have a lotta confidence in my RTV900 temp gauge.

Does anyone here know whether Kubota may be using different temp gauges, sending units, and/or thermostats today? Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to hear from you.

got the bearings in the housings, the head all back together, new thermostat, injectors in,now waiting on a piston and a bearing to start the rebuild.

this is what stupidity does! QUOTE]

This abuse makes me stick to my stomach.
Hard to believe, that a person can pull such a stupid stunt.
People don't think, People don't care about others equipment.

It is hard enough to get equipment now days to do what it is suppose to do, without doing crap like that.

Seriously, and people want to know why people go crazy. This is enough to make one loose his mind.

And this world is full of stupid people, and we can't fix that !!!!!

Heat wave, I would refer back to the temp sensor. Sounds as if your fan is working, but the temp sensor is what controls it. You may be able to find one that will throw a ground at a cooler temp. You could hardwire it, but that may cause other issues later on. If I come across one ill let you know.

Thanks, 31. I'm going to trailer the rig to a different Kubota dealer to have his checked out further. Greater distance ... but your suggestion makes it worthwhile. Many thanks.

the gauge sender is the one in the head, towards the trans, the fan is the one in the water outlet, grounding that one will turn the fan on.

all the torque specs on this motor is anywhere from 8ftlb-32 ft lb on the majors. the flywheel bolts and the dampener is the only thing with some torque behind it.the 3/8 impact puts it on good enough...the head bolts are 30 ftlbs.mains and rods are 20 ftlb.

now waiting for monday to fire it up and run it!!
