what part of the mounting are you having problems with?

It's been a long time since I have worked on a MF 12 baler. The counter mounts so as the bale needles come up into the knotter the linkage that control the needle movement will pass by the counter trip arm and count a bale.

I think the switch is for an electric control valve. They may be changing the Hyd. flow by rerouting the oil lines. This would give the system more torque.

Joe - Check fuel tank for trash. Your fuel lines may have a small bit of trash in them. 2840's were dependable tractors in their day.

Joe Sound like you may need to check your Fuel Filter and Replace. Your Starter also will need to rebuilt soon too.
