    4WD articulated tractor works!

Evening all. Just thought I'd share a pic of where this tractor ended up. Ended up using all the drive system, and adding a hydraulic driven jet impeller for water drive. Fully amphibious!

    4WD articulated tractor works!

Just an update to this. Managed to sell the tractor to a guy who specialises in amphibious vehicles. Working with him we have made it into an amphibious rescue craft. Pretty cool bit of kit. Once all the paperwork is in place to protect it I will post some pictures.

    First mow of the season

Cut 1 lawn so far this year, hoping for some sun on Sunday to get on another. Cant wait to get out on the tractor this year and start earning some money!

    massey ferguson 290 & hedgetrimmer

Hi, the return hose just needs to return the rear transmisson as I believe on your tractor the rear axle serves as the hydraulic reserviour. You can put a fitting on the fill cap to return into there, anywhere that will get the oil back into the transmission. We tend to run them a bit overfull...

    smoke but no fire

The fuel stsytem has been cleaned / replaced as necessary. As in my previous post, there does seem to be a good flow of fuel from the injectors. It wont even fire with a squirt of wd40 in the inlet. What has me is the smoke from the rocker cover. Seems that the smoke from the combustion chamber...

    smoke but no fire

Hi guys, long time no see. Got a problem with a kubota 3 cyl engine in a digger. It spins over, chuffs out black smoke but wont fire. Occasionally it coughs but it wont stay running if you let off the starter. The injectors had a bit of carbon on the tips, but seem to get a good fuel flow...

    Vicon ZM 242

Seems you arent alone Doc, not been able to find any information on it whatsoever. Apparently my tractor wont have enough power to run it well, so it looks like its the scrap or sell option. I'll put in in the corner of a field for the time being and see what happens in spring. I'll grab a...

    Vicon ZM 242

Hi Brian, hope you are keeping well. Havent forgotten I owe you a beer for that Ferguson manual! Picture I now have, so far no-one has a clue about it.

    Vicon ZM 242

I have acquired a Vicon ZM242 mower conditioner as part of a lot of equipment. I have fettled with the hydraulics and that appears to work. Chucked a PTO shaft on it this afternoon and it span up OK. I know nothing more of the machine. Google doesnt come up with much on that model number...

    Modify ROPS

Never shorten a ROPS, they are made that tall for a reason (to stop the tractor rolling all the way over if you are unlucky enough to tip it on its side).

    Loader hydraulic questions

Success! Still got a few bits to hook up, like the line to the trans for the regen on the bucket circuit. Bucket is rotten on the bottom, all the hoses need replacing and the pins are quite worn. This I all knew when I bought it and considered it in my offer. Other than that it seems to work...

    Loader hydraulic questions

I had always been keeping an eye out for a loader for my tractor ever since I bought it, just to make it more useful. Anyway, a chap came in at work looking for a hydraulic fitting. Found him one, and we got chatting etc. Turned out he was taking a loader off his tractor and lived just down...

    The Neighbor Saver

Good gig Big Dog. Do you do anything like mowing, or is there not much demand? Started doing the same thing a few years ago and its been good.

Low oil pressure at low revvs

Fitted a new switch, still lighting up. Pretty sure it must actually have low pressure. I also noticed that no oil tickled out of the hole when I took the switch out. Usually a bit of oil runs out. Sounds like I had better take the sump off......

    PTO Powered Lawn Vacuum

I have such a collector mounted on my tractor, factory fit. Works ace, wish I bought it years ago! It is a Deere 342T I think. It is bolted to the back with 3 pins, and has a short little PTO shaft. The impeller is belt driven. It has a hydraulic opening clamshell to empty it.

    Detaching Mower Side PTO Axle

It might just be siezed on, no-one ever really takes them off. There might be a bolt going through the shaft that you have to take out too. Usually you have 1 PTO shaft (you call it drive axle) for each implement, so the easiest solution is just to buy a new PTO shaft for the finishing mower...

Low oil pressure at low revvs

£16.79+vat. I will head down the auto factors tomorrow and see if I can fetch a generic one as you suggest Cali. Got to be a good starting point. Fingers crossed it will solve the problem when it arrives. I had a kubota do the same thing, oil light was on all the time. Bought it cheap, replaced...
